Details about the Gathering

"There is nothing like the open heart and open arms that Earthstory offers — it's a re-charge of hope and strength and meaning for the seeking soul."
--Lorrie

1. Register Now. Registration and cost information for 2011 gathering is available on the Registration Page. Our printable Brochure also contains information about this year's gathering plus a registration form.

2. Paying for Earthstory. See the Registration Page for details. Please contact us if you can not afford the standard fees. "As a community we are commited to erasing stratification and hierarchy based on financial resources. We work to find ways for all participants to contribute their energy in such a way that all work is done and all financial costs are covered" ~ Earthstory Council

3. Accomodations.
Tenting is available with sheltered areas for meals and meetings. Clean outdoor toilets and solar showers will be available. Bring your tent or sleep under the stars. Earthstory seeks to encourage a "deep ecology" experience by being an outdoor camping event. However, if necessary, indoor space is also available at the Earthlands lodge, for $35 per night per person, as determined by our host, Earthlands. Please email the Earthlands office directly, office@earthlands.org, to make arrangements.

4. Meals. The provided community meals are vegan, primarily organic. If you have special dietary needs please let us know on your registration form, and we will try to accommodate. Three meals per day are planned throughout the event, beginning with dinner on Monday, August 8th and ending with lunch on Sunday, August 14th. There will be limited facilities for individual preparation of non-vegan food. Ice can be provided mid-week, however, please bring your own food containers, as there is no additional space for personal food storage in the communal kitchen.

Excitement at water! 5. Community Care.
Participants take turns helping to maintain the site, prepare food, clean up, and spend time with our young people. New this year, we are requesting deliberate intention and organized action to leave the event site as we find it.

6. Donations and Proceeds. Donations are greatly appreciated, as they provide a means for low income people to attend. Proceeds from the event, after setting aside seed money for future events, are given to non-profit environmental or peace-making organizations.

7. Eco-Fair. Throughout the event there will be space for attendees to display their literature and wares. This is intended to support people in their cottage industry or right livelihood.

8. Youth Program. If there's a need, the community can self-organize to provide special programming for the young people throughout the event. People offering ideas, materials and resources that would benefit the children attending Earthstory, are much needed and appreciated. If you are interested in helping to co-create this part of the event, please contact the registrar at ourearthstory@gmail.com . NOTE: Parents have full responsibility for their children at all times.

9. Dates.  Earthstory will begin Monday, August 8, 2011 at 3:00 pm for registration and setup, and end on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at lunch. If your schedule limits you, you are welcome to participate for as many days as you would like. AND we encourage everyone to come and be part of the Earthstory community for the whole week.

10. Policy. No alcohol or recreational drugs are permitted at the gathering. No pets.

11. Directions. Earthstory will be held at Earthlands in Petersham, MA. It is located at 39 Glasheen Rd, Petersham, MA 01366. From points east or west take exit 17 off Rt. 2.
